Leftover

I'm exhausted. This has been the longest week of life. I narrowly averted banking disaster.

Those are just a few reasons why I'm eagerly awaiting tonight's Caesar.

After my photoshoot with Danka, I posted her photos sparingly. I was worried I'd "use them all up" super quickly and have to go back to the good ol' iPhone. I carefully spaced out when I posted them, savouring them like small blog treasures until I realized today that I still have one more outfit to post, and I need to do it now because fall is quickly upon us (although it's currently +32 in Ottawa). So...here's the last of them. *sigh*

PS. How evil and frustrated do I look in that last photo? Bahahaha. Had to post it!

Leo Love

In high school, my best friend Tiffany wore a leopard headband ONE time. Apparently, it was considered a huge fashion faux pas at the time, because we all made fun of her. This is especially hilarious because we went to an arts high school and people wore crazy ish. For example, one girl made a very skimpy "shirt" out of caution tape which finally prompted school administrators to consider, but ultimately abandon, the idea of a dress code. Considering our environment a leopard headband should have gone completely unnoticed, but it didn't. To this day, our friend Zach will not let Tiffany forget it, and every once in a while he'll remind her to "leave the leopard at home".
Ten years later (OMG, 10 years! We're old!) and leo is back...big time. I for one am loving it, so when I saw these pumps at Target during Sunday's mini shopping trip to the US, I knew I had to have them.
Also loving? This tassle necklace from Sarah's Etsy shop. Basically, I haven't taken it off since I bought it on Thursday.

Cardigan: Smart Set, Dress: TJ Maxx, Shoes: Target, Necklace: DIY by Sarah

The mini shopping trip was so much fun, even though we only went to Watertown, where the main attraction is: Target. Somehow, I still managed to buy a lot of stuff (including this dress) and spend five times my budgeted amount. (To be fair, my budgeted amount was ridiculously unrealistic, so I was bound to fail)
My friend from California couldn't believe that we were going to drive for two hours and cross a border in order to end up at Target, but she doesn't understand what a Target-less life is like. I can't wait for it to finally open up in Canada. Until then, an open letter for their consideration:

Dear Canadian Target,

Please do not suck like Canadian Old Navy.

Sincerely,

Everyone

Also, for the first time since Sarah and I have been cross- border shopping together, we were asked by the border services guy to "go inside" and pay taxes on all our new purchases even though we claimed an amount that was significantly smaller than every other time we've crossed the border AND I put on lipgloss as we arrived at the crossing AND Sarah made a really funny joke about shoes. We pulled out all the stops, but this guy was having none of it.

Not So Mellow

There is nothing mellow about this yellow shirt, friends. In fact it is quite the opposite of mellow. This baby is bright. When I first spotted it, I totally thought I was too pale to pull it off. That may still be the case, but I have loved this shirt since the day I tried it on, and have worn it a lot. Forget you, mellow!

Today Sarah and I went back to our old photoshoot spot, and it felt good. Awkward as always, but good. She got away without being photographed, but at least we're slowly getting back into the game. I've been blogging since April, and I do miss it when I'm away. I miss writing, I miss reading people's comments, I miss checking out my daily reads, I miss discovering new blogs and leaving comments.

Despite all of that, I still have freak out moments. Like tonight, when I realized that through a random Twitter connection, it would suddenly became possible for a lot of people who know me to view my blog. I lost it. It was like some deep, dark, secret about me was going to be revealed. I panicked.
I'm not sure why I'm still hesitant to go public with my blog, but it doesn't even matter. For now I am content to share this part of myself with the small community of blogger friends I have built up over the past few months. I like that this part of my life is completely seperate from everything else.

Including my increasingly public TV life. Hahaha.

Ok I'm off to bed but before I go let me warn you that you shouldn't expect a lot if you plan on watching "What to Expect When You're Expecting". It's not very good. I know. I was as shocked as the rest of you (aka. not at all), but I'm pretty certain that Cameron's prosthetic belly will not win her an Oscar. #sadface
Also, Anna Kendrick is totally overrated.

BEEn a while

It's been so long since my last post, but here I am!

This weekend was completely insane. I travelled over 900km in 42 hours, slept very little, filmed parts of the second Serbian TV Ottawa episode, went to the Ottawa Serbian Festival every single day, attended the Serbian TV Ottawa launch party and danced my little heart out the entire time.
Insane...but so much fun.

A really good friend of mine who is also my God sister (is that a real thing?) or kuma, for those who speak Serbian, recently got engaged and asked me to be her maid of honour. Her engagement party was this past Friday and even though I told her I wouldn't be able to make it, I went to Toronto for one night and surprised her and her fiance.

The happy couple and I. Note: The shortest person in this photo is me, and I was 6'2 (in heels).

We danced until 4:30 am and didn't get to bed until 6:00 am.
The next morning I was up at 9 and heading back to Ottawa by 10:30. Since it was a long weekend, traffic was nuts so we arrived in Ottawa at 4pm, and I was at the Serbian Festival filming the feature for Serbian TV at 6pm. Filming wrapped up at 8:30 pm and I danced and hung out with friends until 11:30 pm.
The next day (and again on Monday), it was back to the Serbian Festival for more dancing and food. Sunday night we attended the Serbian TV Ottawa launch party which didn't wrap up until 3:20 am.

This is what I wore.

These photos were actually taken during my photoshoot with Danka a few weeks ago, but wearing the dress this weekend made me realize I never featured it on the blog.

Dress: ASOS, Shoes: Winner's.

And here is the Serbian TV Ottawa crew at this weekend's launch party!

Also, check out my CTV Morning Live appearance, where I discussed Serbian food. Ironic, since I can't actually cook any of it.

Bloggers Block

It feels like forever since I've excitedly stared at the blank blogger page, ready to dish about a new vest/ skirt/ shirt I've incorporated into that day's outfit.

There are about a million reasons why I haven't been posting. Newfoundland was busy and more importanlty the weather was completely ridiculous. It was cold and here was a permanent mist suspended in the air. My hair exploded. Seriously. Also, I had brought summer clothing (45 lbs of it, to be exact) so, in order to stay warm I basically had to layer on everything I brought with me. Needless to say, it was no time to be taking outfit photos.

Life has also been pretty crazy, as my local TV career seems to be picking up steam. Not really.
I do have an unplanned TV appearance this Tuesday that I've been prepping for, and we are getting ready to film the second episode of Serbian Television Ottawa.

I'm also tired of my closet and everything in it. I'm not interested in shopping either. Crazy. I know. I hit the mall today with my friend and I wasn't tempted to buy anything. I came home emty handed. *gasp*

Like I said, a million and one reasons not to blog...but really, the truth is that I've hit a major bloggers block. I'm sick of taking and looking at photos of myself, and I've been wondering: who really cares what I am wearing to my 9-5 office job? REALLY?

To make matters worse, I just tried to force myself to upload some photos and my internet is basically dial-up right now so nothing is moving.

It's a sign: I shouldn't force it.

Screeching In

I'm posting quickly just to say that today I am off to Newfoundland with Sarah! I'm so excited. I've never been out East and I haven't been on vacation this year so I'm really looking forward to 5 days away! Oh yah, it's for a work conference but that's just a minor detail, right?

My director (who is originally from Newfoundland) told me this morning that my hair would be hideously frizzy and that my phone will not work. (whaaaat?). She must be joking! *nervous laugh*

Not sure I'll be posting while I'm away, so I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Spoiled

I've been kind of spoiled lately. After being photopraphed by Danka one week, styled by Patrick and clothed by Sub Rosa Vintage another week, going back to dressing myself and taking pictures with my iPhone is just not that exciting. This lack of excitement is reflected in my facial expression in the photos below *sigh*
It's so easy to get used to the luxuries of a real photographer and other people's clothing/ style, but I'm plowing forward.

I realize that I have yet to document my new hair. Scandal!
I had been admiring and drooling over ombre hair for a while. However, I am addicted to highlights and love being a  blonde, so I wasn't sure if I could go ahead with it. Complicating things further, I had also recently fallen in love with Neris' hair (check out her blog here). Her blonde is so gorgeous - so I decided that if I chickened out on the ombre, I would copy her platinum locks.
Last Wednesday, I walked into my hairdresser's salon armed with pictures of Neris and examples of the type of ombre I wanted. I even had YouTube tutorials on how to do ombre colouring. Other hair dressers would have thought I was rude, or a crazy person, but she's been doing my hair since I was 17 so she's used to it. (Side note: over the phone she heard me say "auburn" instead of "ombre" and had already called my mom to warn her I may heve lost my marbles, and devised a plan to discourage me from going through with it. Love my hair dresser!)

In the end we both agreed that it was time for a change, and the ombre won. Even though it is darker than I am used to, I am slowly learning to like it. It's nothing drastic (for everyone else), but it's a big step for a blonde addict like myself.
